Reporting - HTML redirects to hostname

When I setup reporting and have it use the local personal web sharing, or even computer web sharing, I have a problem in that the directory/page always redirects to a URL using the machine's hostname.

For example, I may point my browser to and it changes it to http://mymacname.local/simon/myreport

This would be fine if I was just going to look at the pages internally, but I have to access them from many other IPs that cannot resolve 'mymacname.local'

My goal is to be able to point my browser to an internal IP or external IP URL to access my report, e.g. or http://77.122.42.x/simon/myreport

I am not an httpd expert, but I couldn't seem to find this being a setting within apache. I also couldn't find anything relevent within the template for Simon.

When I create other misc websites and folders, it does not do that URL redirection which leads me to believe this is something being controlled by Simon.

I would appreciate any an all help!

Re: Reporting - HTML redirects to hostname

Simon suggests the .local domain, but it doesn't require it. Simon generates relative URLs for the links to the individual test pages and back to the summary page, allowing the report to be saved anywhere.

I just opened a report in Safari and changed the domain to localhost, and to the computer's IP address, and in both cases the link URLs used those addresses, and clicking them and clicking back to the summary page worked fine.

I'm not sure why your browser is changing the domain like that. It might be a browser-specific thing, trying to be helpful. Regardless, you should be able to use the IP address from other computers (assuming they have access to your machine's web sharing).

Something isn't right.. No

Something isn't right..

No matter where I am, when I enter http://x.x.x.x/simon/myreport it gets redirected to a http://hostname.local/simon/myreport Even from outside my network!

I've tried from many different computers and different web browsers, and on different networks, to rule out anything external to this machine and simon.

If it helps any I'm using the stylish template - but I went through the template code and I couldn't find anything that would do this.

I just don't get it...

Re: Reporting - HTML redirects to hostname

Can you please send me the IP address you're using, if it is publicly available, so I can try it.

As I said, when I try it, it seems to work as expected (using multiple templates), so I need to see a situation where it doesn't before I can figure out why.

Sorry I haven't replied

Sorry I haven't replied sooner. I will definitely contact you soon to check it out.

Thanks again!!
