Need a example!

I have so much trouble to get the block filter to work...is it possible to show me an example with this site(s)?

http://www.example.com/example/example/

here i did following setup: Success-Block - Response
Start: src="http://bild9.qimage.de/
End: .jpg"

But nothing is detected!

http://www.example.com/de/classified_8.html

I need the change detection for the first slot of the Announce...I am trying 2 Days and Nights to get it run, but no chance...

How would you do it?

Thanks in Advance

Re: Need a example!

For the first one, I set up the filter as you specified, which sounds perfectly reasonable, if that image name is what you want to detect. It works as expected, outputting the image name, as shown in this Activity log (entries are in reverse order, newest at top):

The second example I don't see any "Announce" text, so I can't try that. Perhaps you can attach a screenshot of your filter setup? (You'll need to attach it to your original forum post; comments can't have attachments); or email to me if you prefer.

Re: Need a example!

First thank you very much! i love the way how you care for your customer(i will buy the Simon express soon!)

Probably you missunderstand me...

I want to detect every new annonce (sorry, i meant annonce not announce) that comes in!
But with this method, Simon is not detecting new entries!

Re: Need a example!

For the second site, you can detect when new items are added by using a Block filter with this in the Start:

thomann.de/pics/n.gif" width=1 height=1><BR>

And something at the end like the following for the End block:

<BR>

That will result in a change when the first line changes (assuming new entries are added at the top).

I was going to suggest ending with something after the whole table, but they use dynamic image servers, so it changes all the time if you do that. The blocks given above were chosen to avoid that issue.

Re: Need a example!

Thank you very much!
I will try it!

Do you have an example for the first ?

http://www.----.de/musik-equipment/studio-recording-equipment-/

Here i only want the first annonce to be monitored...

Thanks in Advance

Re: Need a example!

Sorry, your reply was blocked as spam since it contains a link.

Using these might work. For Start:

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

For End:

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

You could probably use other text; basically you want something that doesn't occur earlier than the desired block, and surrounds the interesting portion, without dynamic content. (It's possible some of the text in that block might be dynamic, but it didn't change when I reloaded it, which is usually a good sign.)

Re: Need a example!

Perfect..now it works superb!
Thanks for your great work!

Only problem i have till now is Ebay...

In Ebay nothing is recognised, no changes anyway...

Could you please make an example like for the other one?
I only want first new entry to be recognized.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Need a example!

For eBay, I'd suggest something like this....

For Start:

http://www.ebay.de/itm

For End:

</a>

That should contain the first item, and doesn't seem to contain dynamic content.

You can use a similar technique for other tests. What I do is:

  1. Start to create a new test in Simon, and paste in the URL.
  2. Click the Preview button in the New Test window.
  3. Look in the web preview for the desired text.
  4. Use the Find panel (Cmd-F) to find that text in the source pane.
  5. Look for suitable start and end text around the desired area.
  6. Add a Block filter with that start and end text.
