Simon 5 is coming soon!

Simon version 5 is currently in beta testing. It is a massive update, introducing a much-requested feature: syncing the Simon data between multiple Macs, plus a Simon Status service, a Link Checker filter, improved Find filter, iMessage and Speak Error notifiers, a new app icon, and much more.

Important: please note that Simon 5 requires a minimum of macOS 10.12 (Sierra), and will be a paid upgrade from Simon 4 after the beta. Purchasers since September 1, 2020 automatically get a version 5 license (that also works in previous versions).

Test for Internet connectivity before reporting failure

Occasionally our Internet connection goes down and then every test fails. Is there some way to test for Internet connectivity before registering/reporting a test as failed? Or maybe a way to automatically pause all testing until connectivity is reestablished?

Re: Test for Internet connectivity before reporting failure

Simon has a built-in feature to take tests into an offline state when it detect no internet connection.

Check that you haven't bypassed this in the test settings — see the Can check when offline checkbox in the Options tab.

Re: Test for Internet connectivity before reporting failure

Can check when offline is not selected, yet 2 - 6 tests fail every morning as the computer is waking up.

Re: Test for Internet connectivity before reporting failure

Please enter the following command in Terminal:

defaults write com.dejal.simon InternetConnectionDebugMode YES

Then after the next time this occurs, please send me the Console log entries for the wakeup period. That might provide a clue.
