Introducing Simon 5!

Simon version 5 is now available. It is a massive update, introducing a much-requested feature: syncing the Simon data between multiple Macs, plus a Simon Status service, a Link Checker filter, improved Find filter, iMessage and Speak Error notifiers, a new app icon, and much more.

Important: please note that Simon 5 requires a minimum of macOS 10.12 (Sierra), and is a paid upgrade from Simon 4. Purchasers since September 1, 2020 automatically get a version 5 license (that also works in previous versions).

remote command-line control of Simon?

I have a couple of machines checking each other (with Simon). When I need to install OS updates, etc. I have to use Apple Remote Desktop (or screen sharing or VNC) and go to each machine to pause all of the mutual tests using Simon's GUI.

I might be missing something obvious, but is there a way to remotely control Simon from the command line? It would be great to be able to run a shell script (for example) that used ssh to pause tests on a remote machine. I don't see Applescript support in Simon or anything else obvious to me.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Re: remote command-line control of Simon?

No, that isn't possible at present. But it's certainly something I'm keen to add in the future.

Using a command-line tool is probably the best way to do this, but I have a few other ideas, including AppleScript, Jabber (chat with Simon), and other options. I might add more than one over time.
